Last weekend I was able to sneak out of town with my best friend Andrew on an adventure in New England. We covered Boston, Providence, Newport and the tiny towns in between in just a long weekend. It was a great escape from the hot North Carolina weather. And an incredible scenic tour to relax in. Plus, the seafood!
Here’s the lowdown on our trip.
A quick lunch at the Food & Wine rated Townsman adjacent to the amazing Rose Kennedy Greenway in Boston. A quirky and hip night in Providence, RI including a night at The Dean, dinner at Al Forno (calamari pizza!), drinks at Magdalenea Room and late night cat karate cocktails at the BoomBox. Amazing full-fat lattes at Bolt Coffee the next morning. A drive down the eastern shore of Rhode Island (RI-114) through Warren, Middleton and Bristol, RI. Lunch at the Blount Clam Shack in Warren, too cute.
Two nights at The Viking in Newport, RI. A long walk/adventure on the scenic Cliff Walk, a spring pea and mint cocktail at Castle Hill. A two hour sailing adventure with Captain Kevin on the Columbia with 12 Meter Charters. Drinks at The Spiced Pear – so civilized. Clam Chowder at The Black Pearl. A final cruise down Ocean Drive before heading back to reality.
