This weekend in the midst of Hurricane Joaquin downpour, I had absolutely no energy to do much but watch reruns of Ina Garten on Netflix. Cooking seemed like a reasonable activity, yet nothing could inspire me to buy groceries. So I asked myself, is a ham sandwich an acceptable thing to blog about? My friend Margaret said “a good ham sandwich is worthwhile.” So here we are.
A thin slice of great multigrain bread, spread with a small amount of deli mustard, a slice of swiss cheese, two slices of smoked honey ham. Broiled on high until toasted and bubbly. I’ll take that almost any day. Even a sunny one. The key is the best ingredients you can find. And, a good side of carrots and well seasoned hard boiled eggs. And, maybe a cookie.
