72 Hours in New England Starts with Nine Hours in Newport

I’m back from an amazing three days in New England with my new beau, Graham. In a short amount of time (plus or minus 72 hours), we explored Newport, Rhode Island, Portland and Ogunquit, Maine and Portsmouth, New Hampshire. Including brief times in Providence, Boston and lots of I-95.

The visit was my first time visiting Maine and New Hampshire. The Seacoast lived up to all my expectations and the views exceeded them. All the local food was also a big treat!

The quick trip trip left much to come back for (like all good things). I’ll post my some of my views and recommendations  this weekend. Meanwhile, I’m already starting my grocery lists for weekend cooking.

Starting with Newport, RI….

Nine Hours in Newport:

A rainy morning hideout in Ocean Coffee Roasters. Try the Newport Blend in a French Press.

A walk past St. Mary’s Catholic Church …. Wedding location of Jacqueline Bouvier to John Fitzgerald Kennedy

A stroll on the Cliff Walk and views of Newport Mansions

An extended stay at Flo’s Clam Shack . I recommend Shock Top Beers, a seat at the Raw Bar with oysters, clams, shrimp and crabs.

A scenic drive (with numerous stops) down Ocean Drive. This was my favorite part of the day. You can’t. beat. these. views.

Finish the drive at Castle Hill Inn. Amazing views and optional drinks on the lawn.
