Happy December! The holidays are approaching and my calendar is practically spilling-over with engagements and celebrations. From impromptu gatherings to orchestrated events, I’m looking forward to spending a lot of time with friends and family before the new year. And, that doesn’t always equate to a lot of time in my kitchen. In an effort to not over do it, I’ve been doing some tastings of store-bought dips and spreads that require no cooking. A couple of really good cheeses, olives, cured meats and crackers can make an easy celebration without turning on the heat. Antipasto trays are typically my go-to no cook hors d’oeuvres.
However, The Fresh Market recently came out with a new line of seafood dips that are delightful. I served TFM Smoked Trout Dip before a casual Friday night supper with my friends and family over the Thanksgiving holiday. I was a bit skeptical because of the number of Floridians in the house – particularly my fisherman Dad and Grandfather – however everyone commented how tasty the dip was. Mild and creamy with a delicious smokey taste of trout – the dip was simply delicious and a breeze to serve with crackers. Let me know if you try their smoke salmon dip and crab dip!
This dip is hard to beat – and that is considering my absolute love for Florida smoked mullet dip which can only be homemade straight from the gulf. So, skip the work and enjoy this dip with your friends this holiday season!
