Visiting Trosly Farm in Elk Park, NC

This weekend, Winston and I escaped west to our friend’s Jamey and Phil’s home in Deep Gap, NC for a mountain retreat. It was a beautiful weekend to head to higher elevation – although temperatures were still fairly warm considering the altitude. On Saturday, I planned a farm visit to Trosly Farms in Elk Park, NC – just a couple of miles away from the Tennessee border. Trosly is a “real, small farm” that is really admirable. On a just five-acre farm, a young couple raises pigs, ducks and chickens – mills whole grains for homemade sourdough bread – and makes their own artisan chocolates. Not to mention the CSA they operate! My photos don’t do the land or their efforts justice.

We picked up fresh eggs, bread and chocolates to enjoy throughout the weekend. I highly recommend stopping by the farm for a Saturday market visit – or a farm dinner they host throughout the summer. Visit their website here – and plan your trip!
