Tis the season to pitch into the Greensboro Thanksgiving Fund

I spent my weekend with writer’s block thinking about thankfulness. The photo of my family’s Thanksgiving table is just another reminder of how much I have to be thankful for – yet it doesn’t help my writer’s block!  To avoid anymore writing – I’ll give a plug an amazing effort championed by  restauranteurs, runners and community members at large each year during the holiday season. The Thanksgiving Fund (or Holiday Fund) has provided thousands (4,000 in 2010!) of meals over the last 24 years to our community’s homeless, hungry, homebound and elderly poor – including my friends at the Triad Health Project.  My dear friend Michiko (aka my Greensboro mother) has tirelessly worked behind the scenes to make this happen each year. Not only does she do an amazing job rallying for the Fund she also spends her Thanksgiving morning making the mashed potatoes!

Every dollar helps make this happen. I hope you’ll consider giving this year. Donate online here.
