This weekend my Mom and her best friend Debbie came up from Florida to spend the weekend on Mendenhall Street. As always, the weather turned to cool and breezy days for their visit (it once snowed the week before their arrival to sunny and warm temperatures). We spent our time working in my garden, buying birdhouses, adding touches of color to my backyard, making a gorgeous terrarium for my dining room and working on a couple of home repairs (I’m understating the level of home repair).
I’ve said this before – but my mom and Debbie are great because they love to work hard and play hard. We planned a Greek themed menu from my favorite cookbook, How to Roast a Lamb, and had a couple of friends over to enjoy an elaborate Saturday night dinner. The meal consisted of seasonal Southern fruits with traditional Greek recipes. We enjoyed dinner with plenty of Spanish wine under an passing full moon with many many bat friends. I’ll post the recipes this week.
Greece Meets the South Menu
- Priorat Spanish Wines
- Grilled Lamb Chops with Lemon Puree
- Roasted Potato and Caper Salad with Anchovy Vinaigrette
- Grilled Watermelon and Feta
- Toasted Flatbread
- Baklava Cups with Lemon Honey Greek Yogurt with Fresh Peaches and Blueberries
It was to die for!!!!!
