Dog Days of Summer; Keeping the heat out of the kitchen.

There is no doubt that these are the dog days of summer (although funny enough, this is the time of year that forced me to start this blog). It has been brutally hot and humid this last week  and it doesn’t look like it will cool off anytime soon.  I spent the weekend working on solutions to summer boredom, heat and an infestation of fruit flies that have invaded my kitchen. With the help of friends and Facebook advice on fruit flies, I resolved two out of three (well, it’s a working goal with those damn flies). The heat is still out of my control so I came up with a delicious Sunday supper to keep the heat out of the kitchen. I’ll post a couple of recipes this week. Until then, stay cool.

Dog Days of Summer No Heat Menu

  • Menage a Trois Rose Wine
  • Summer Tomato, Cucumber and Beet salad with Goat Cheese Buttermilk Dressing
  • Grilled Lemon and Rosemary marinated Top Sirloin Steak
  • Dubliner Cheddar Cheese and French Bread

  1. we made and enjoyed your greek salad yesterday – the one you did in jars. We just did in a big bowl, but it was yummy. I look forward to trying this sirloin!

  2. A friend once said, if you don’t have fruit flies in your house during summer, you are not eating enough fruit.
