It wouldn’t be a proper trip to Washington DC without stopping into Ben’s Chili Bowl. I’ve eaten at Ben’s times before but never when I was so full with food. After a weekend of indulging, it was hard to bite the bullet and dig into the chili cheese fries – “but when in Rome!” We stopped by after walking both the Eastern Market and the U Street neighborhood and found Ben’s packed with people outside of mealtime hours (around 3pm). We “sampled” both the veggie chili cheese fries and the standard. I have to admit, the standard with meat has a bit more spice which I prefer. Both, deliciously indulgent covered in good old American cheese. We left stuffed, with a Cosby Half-Smoke to deliver to Travis at work. We headed back to Alexandria for an evening of  with the pups and replenishing ourselves with a salad. A perfect long weekend in DC filled with the best friends, food and fun.
