A Runner’s Brunch

Elsewhere Bike Game Show

The rain came just in time to cool off over 300 runners in this weekend’s Downtown Greenway Run 4 The Greenway. Friends came from near and far to celebrate and support the efforts of the Downtown Greenway. Not only was Mendenhall a large portion of the race route (running from College Hill through Westerwood) – but most of our block of Mendenhall came out to both play and run (including the 4th place winner!).

The sun came out on Sunday leaving room to rest our feet and refuel. My friend Patrick and I woke up early to prepare a brunch for our friend Mary who traveled from Wilmington to participate in the race. With Mary’s nuptials lingering around the corner, we  prepared a health conscious menu with a low carb option. Patrick and I couldn’t resist the toast.

Team Mendenhall!

Runner’s Brunch Menu:

  • Toasted Olive Bread with Artichoke Spread and Poached Egg
  • Sautéed Spinach with Garlic
  • Homemade Mustard and Fennel Breakfast Sausage
  • Mimosas and Southern Season Breakfast Blend Coffee

  1. i feel tortured living so far away. it all sounds delish but the olive toast has especially caught my eye… looking forward to those recipes & pics.

btw – i am already scheming for our foodventures next time we are together. i hope it involves you traveling north. a farmer market season visit is necessary here (best time: late june – mid-september) and we have a different one in the area every day of the week. hint hint hint. luckily (for vacation planning and budgetary concerns) since we are already at mid-september, i guess we are looking at 2011.

    • im totally down for a visit. and more time lends for $$ and vacation hours. since im low on both. 😦

      wish we lived closer!
